Policy Brief: Will the Public Pay for Cleaner Air? A Case Study from Metro Manila

A summary of the research report “Are Metro Manila Households Willing to Pay for Cleaner Transport?” authored by Jamil Paolo S. Francisco of the Department of Economics of Ateneo de Manila University, for the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia or EEPSEA.

Hard copies of the policy brief are also available at the iCSC office.

Correction: The policy brief erroneously states that the ejeepneys were launched in Makati City as a joint program of Greenpeace and Makati City government. The proponent and implementor of the ejeepney initiative is iCSC (formerly Green Renewable Independent Power Producer or GRIPP) with Makati City as the pilot partner city. Greenpeace provided volunteers and assisted in the event’s organization during the launch in Makati up to the project’s inception stage.

Authored by Jamil Paolo S. Francisco, Department of Economics, Ateneo de Manila University

This study by the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia or EEPSEA looks at the willingness of residents of Metro Manila to pay for a program that would replace the city’s current fleet of highly-polluting diesel jeepneys with zero-emission electric vehicles.

Hard copies of the report are also available at the iCSC office.
