December 1, 2010, MANILA, Philippines – To significantly decrease air pollution, the Philippine government is crafting a roadmap to fast-track the development of electric vehicles in the next five years.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon Paje, said tapping the full potential of electric vehicles or e-vehicles will help address the country’s road side air quality, particularly in the metropolis.

“The pollution problem in Metro Manila can be reduced through this. Our proposal is to reduce Metro Manila’s pollution by 30 percent by 2011,” he said.
